Each product is inspected by independent certification companies and the non-profit organisation NATRUE monitors the quality of the criteria. The first Weleda products, featuring the NATRUE label came on the market in the spring of 2009.

Description
The mild sage gum balm is a holistic care gel to strengthen the gums. It makes the gums more resistant and thus prevents bleeding and inflammation. In addition, it has a slightly cooling effect, which is extremely pleasant for irritated gums. Extracts of sage and chamomile, which are considered traditional home remedies in oral cavity treatment, support the regeneration and healing of sensitive gums.
Benefits
Important notice for denture wearers: To care for the covered gums and mucous membranes, apply a thin layer of sage gum balm to the denture after each cleaning before inserting it. Sage gum balm has no adhesive effect.

Sage leaves contain the essential sage oil, tannins, bitter compounds and flavonoids. Sage leaves extracts have an astringent and tonic effect. They are suitable as ingredients in oral care products and shampoos.
Matricaria Flower Extract
Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract
The Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Extract of the flowers, stems and leaves of the chamomile plant contains essential oils, flavone derivatives and coumarin. Chamomile flower extracts have a skin-soothing effect and support the regeneration of the skin.

Alcohol is another term for ethanol or ethyl alcohol. In manufacturing plant extracts contained in Weleda's products, mixtures of alcohol and water are used as extraction agents in some formulations. The consistency and stability of natural cosmetic products are improved by alcohol.
Glycerin
Glycerin
Glycerin is a natural ingredient in vegetable and animal fats and oils, which mainly consists of triglycerides (compound of glycerol with three fatty acids). In cosmetic products glycerin is used as a moisturising agent due to its hygroscopic (water-attracting) properties. Besides that, it helps with the distribution of O/W emulsions (oil-in-water-emulsions) and it smoothes and protects the skin.

Xanthan Gum is a high molecular weight, long chain carbohydrate (polysaccharide), which is used as a natural gelling agent, emulsion stabilizer, binder and viscosity regulator.

Magnesium sulfate, also known as Epsom salts has a stabilising effect especially in W/O emulsions (water-in-oil-emulsions) and improves the consistency of the emulsion. In our oral care products we use a highly diluted form of the mineral magnesium sulfate which according to the anthroposophical knowledge of man and nature helps to support the substance formation of the teeth and gums.
