Sophia Healing Centre

About us
Sophia Healing Centre is an integrative medical practice based at the Weleda New Zealand site in Havelock North, Hawke's Bay. The centre is home to a small, experienced team of general practitioners who are also trained in anthroposophic medicine, united by a shared commitment to seeing and treating the whole human being: body, soul, and spirit. Consultations are unhurried, deeply attentive, and collaborative, combining the best of conventional medicine with anthroposophic remedies, movement, artistic therapies, and practical lifestyle approaches.

The practitioners Dr Richard Drexel, Dr Helen Proctor, Dr Rob Maunsell , Dr René de Monchy  each bring decades of medical experience and specialist training in anthroposophic medicine, including study at the University of Witten/Herdecke and clinical work at leading anthroposophic institutions in Europe. Their individual areas of expertise span homoeopathy, curative eurythmy, musculoskeletal therapy, women's health, and integrative psychiatry, offering patients access to a genuinely multidisciplinary approach to healing. Psychiatrist services are also available by Dr René de Monchy, bringing a holistic and anthroposophically informed perspective to mental and emotional wellbeing.

Rooted in Rudolf Steiner's anthroposophical philosophy and situated within the wider Weleda family, Sophia Healing Centre offers a rare and meaningful alternative for those seeking healthcare that is both medically rigorous and deeply human. Whether patients are navigating chronic illness, complex conditions, or simply seeking a more holistic path to wellbeing, the centre provides a warm and considered space for healing to unfold.
