NATRUE
Natural cosmetics are not always natural cosmetics. NATRUE is the first internationally recognised quality seal for organic and natural cosmetics and thus creates clarity in the label ‘jungle’. Any products featuring the label of NATRUE guarantee the highest standards.
Each product is inspected by independent certification companies and the non-profit organisation NATRUE monitors the quality of the criteria. The first Weleda products, featuring the NATRUE label came on the market in the spring of 2009.
Vegan
Products that are marked as vegan don’t contain any raw materials derived from animals.
All Weleda cosmetic products and foods are suitable for vegetarians abstaining from meat and fish. However, a contact of these products and their raw materials to material of animal origin during the manufacturing process cannot be ruled out entirely.
Products that are not marked as vegan contain raw materials derived from animals like bees wax, and its derivatives, lanolin, goat milk and/or lactose in natural cosmetic products or honey in elixirs.
B-Corp ™
B Corps are businesses that meet the highest verified standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. Weleda first certified with B Corp in 2021, with an impressive 106.8 points (the average first score for s business is 50 points).

With extracts of organic calendula flowers to keep gums healthy, silica for thorough cleaning and natural flavours of fennel and spearmint, it makes cleaning teeth a happy ritual. There are no ingredients which could cause harm if swallowed – no fluoride either. It’s everything good you want for your child’s early teeth, naturally.

Glycerin is a natural ingredient in vegetable and animal fats and oils, which mainly consists of triglycerides (compound of glycerol with three fatty acids). In cosmetic products glycerin is used as a moisturising agent due to its hygroscopic (water-attracting) properties. Besides that, it helps with the distribution of O/W emulsions (oil-in-water-emulsions) and it smoothes and protects the skin.

Silica

Silica can absorb moisture and improves consistency in emulsions. It can be used in body care products as well as in dental care products.

Esculin can be isolated from the bark of the horse chestnut tree. Esculin has skin-soothing properties and contributes to keeping the gums healthy.

Flavor is the collective name for raw materials that are used for the taste (aroma) of oral and dental care products. For such products, Weleda only ever uses a mixtures of natural essential oils - synthetic fragrances are not utilised.

Limonene belongs to the 26 fragrances that have to be listed in the INCI-Declaration since 2005 under EU law, for the protection of fragrance allergy sufferers, if the amount in the product is potentially relevant to the allergy sufferer. Limonene is a natural ingredient of various essential oils that are used to improve the odour of cosmetic products.
