Vegan
Products that are marked as vegan don’t contain any raw materials derived from animals.
All Weleda cosmetic products and foods are suitable for vegetarians abstaining from meat and fish. However, a contact of these products and their raw materials to material of animal origin during the manufacturing process cannot be ruled out entirely.
Products that are not marked as vegan contain raw materials derived from animals like bees wax, and its derivatives, lanolin, goat milk and/or lactose in natural cosmetic products or honey in elixirs.
NATRUE
Natural cosmetics are not always natural cosmetics. NATRUE is the first internationally recognised quality seal for organic and natural cosmetics and thus creates clarity in the label ‘jungle’. Any products featuring the label of NATRUE guarantee the highest standards.
Each product is inspected by independent certification companies and the non-profit organisation NATRUE monitors the quality of the criteria. The first Weleda products, featuring the NATRUE label came on the market in the spring of 2009.

Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil
Sesame Seed Oil works as a perfect massage oil and is used for the care of wan, dry and mature skin but it is also used as a hair conditioning product. It has a great antioxidative effect, skin caring properties and is an ideal carrier oil for active agents. It comprises of a high content of unsaturated fatty oils, such as oil and linolenic acid, as well as phytosterols and Vitamin E (esp. gamma-tocopherol).

Alcohol is another term for ethanol or ethyl alcohol. In manufacturing plant extracts contained in Weleda's products, mixtures of alcohol and water are used as extraction agents in some formulations. The consistency and stability of natural cosmetic products are improved by alcohol.

Glycerin
Glycerin is a natural ingredient in vegetable and animal fats and oils, which mainly consists of triglycerides (compound of glycerol with three fatty acids). In cosmetic products glycerin is used as a moisturising agent due to its hygroscopic (water-attracting) properties. Besides that, it helps with the distribution of O/W emulsions (oil-in-water-emulsions) and it smoothes and protects the skin.

Extracts of the blooming aerial parts of the calendula plants have a yellow-green to brown-green colour. They contain various carotenoids, flavonoids and saponins. Calendula Officinalis Extracts have smoothing properties and support the regeneration of the skin.

Glyceryl Stearate SE is an emulsifier that is especially used for stabilising the O/W emulsions (oil-in-water-emulsions). It is produced from various vegetable oils. Glyceryl Stearate SE also helps to smoothen and soften the skin, leaving behind a supple light feeling.

Glyceryl Stearate Citrate is an emulsifier that can be used in both O/W emulsions (oil-in-water emulsions) and in W/O emulsions (water-in-oil-emulsions). It is produced from various vegetable oils and citric acid. The emollients of Glyceryl Stearate Citrate leave the skin feeling soft, silky and smooth.

How to use
Add a couple drops of Calendula Cream Bath to the water and mix with your hand. The water temperature should be close to 37 degrees Celsius. If you are giving your child a shower, use Calendula Shampoo & Body Wash.
