Proper care for dry feet

Foot care tips and foot mask for stressed feet

Dry skin on the feet is not uncommon. After all, our feet are under constant pressure. Imbalance in the moisture content can lead to dry, cracked heels. Find out how our Skin Food can be used as a rich and intensive foot mask.

Why do I have dry feet?

Often the first rough spots appear on the heels or balls of our feet. Insufficient oil and moisture in the skin on the feet can cause it to become itchy and flaky and form calluses. The daily strain on our feet also plays a significant role. An imbalance in the oil and moisture content can lead to dry heels.

In contrast to the rest of our body, the skin of our feet has fewer sebaceous glands, which provide the body with a protective layer of oil. This means that moisture is less easily retained in the skin of our feet, making them prone to dryness.

Dry skin on the feet can have various causes. In addition to natural predisposition, nutrition and skincare also play an important role.

Skin Food – Intensive care for dry feet

Our Skin Food is an all-round talent. Have you tried it yet to care for your feet? Weleda Skin Food provides your feet with extra hydration and protects them from dryness. For an extra portion of care, the cream can be applied as a nourishing foot mask – for example in the evening, before going to bed.

How to do it:

Wash and dry your feet well, especially the spaces between your toes. Spread a walnut-sized amount of Skin Food all over your foot using gentle massaging movements. The cream should still be visible. It’s best to leave the cream on overnight, wearing light cotton socks.

5 tips to prevent dry feet

  1. Wash your feet, preferably with lukewarm water. Water that is too hot can dry out your skin even more.
  2. Breathable shoes prevent your feet from excessive sweating. At home it’s best to take off your shoes and let your feet breathe.
  3. Avoid long foam baths, which can dry out the skin.
  4. Protect and care for your feet against the cold. Just like our facial skin, our feet enjoy extra attention when the weather is cold.
  5. Drink plenty of fluids. This is generally good for your skin (including the skin on your feet). It’s also good to avoid alcohol and nicotine if possible.
