Our standards

One thing that goes into every product we make is integrity. When we say “all natural,” we mean “all natural.”

We have very clear standards for our products:

No synthetic preservatives
No synthetic fragrances
No synthetic chemicals
No synthetic anything

And because we believe unwaveringly in cultivating beauty for all creatures, we don’t test our skin care products or their ingredients on animals and neither do our suppliers.

Certified natural skin care

Our quality standards aren’t just high, they consistently set new benchmarks for the beauty care industry. We are actively involved in developing standards that help you make the most informed choices, and we continually devise new testing and analysis procedures to keep those standards rigorous. It’s what you have come to expect from us, and it’s what we expect of ourselves.

No testing on animals

As a manufacturer of pharmaceutical products and natural and organic cosmetics with high ethical standards, Weleda does not carry out any animal testing in the manufacture, development or quality control of its natural and organic cosmetics, nor does it commission such testing. We are fundamentally opposed to the use of animal testing.

		International NATRUE Standards Weleda has contributed significantly to ensuring the quality of natural and organic cosmetics by assisting in the creation of a rigorous independent certification scheme. The non-profit initiative "NATRUE" was founded in 2007 by Weleda and other pioneers of natural and organic cosmetics in Europe. It ensures that in future, natural and organic cosmetics will meet the highest standards and that skin care products and cosmetics labelled ‘natural’ really are just that, no matter where in the world consumers are shopping. » Discover more
		International Biodynamic® standards Demeter certification is an international standard for Biodynamic® farming. The Biodynamic® method of agriculture, developed by Rudolf Steiner, the founder of Weleda, aims to provide long term sustainability, improving soil fertility over time. As in organic agriculture, Biodynamic® cultivation enriches the soil and yields plants that have not been burdened with synthetic/chemical fertilisers or pesticides.
		European Union Manufacturing Standards Weleda produces every product according to the European Union (EU) Guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practices, which regulate the quality of active ingredients and bulk goods. Our production is certified according to the EU-Eco-Regulation. All raw materials are free of GMOs, and the vast majority of the raw materials we use are from organic or Biodynamic® sources.
		Kosher Certification All Weleda oral care products, including mouthwashes, toothpastes and children’s tooth gels, are certified Kosher Parve, along with over 70 skin care products. » Click here for a detailed list
		Union for Ethical BioTrade The Union for Ethical BioTrade is a non-profit association that promotes the “Sourcing with Respect” of ingredients that come from native biodiversity.
