Weleda was founded in 1921, directly sprouting from the root of a unique approach to personal health and wellbeing called anthroposophy.
Anthroposophy, a Greek word meaning "human wisdom", stems from the teachings of the scientist and philosopher Dr Rudolf Steiner. This philosophical movement encourages the individual to view the importance of his or her life in conjunction with the entire universe. The forces of our body, soul and spirit are intrinsically connected, and they are closely related to the processes that occur in nature. |

« Anthroposophy recognises the connection between the human being and nature »
Thus, anthroposophy integrates immaterial, spiritual understanding into the scientific study of human beings and nature. It has given impulses into many areas of human life, including agricultural, medical, educational and artistic disciplines. Rudolf Steiner's inspiration led to the founding of Steiner Waldorf schools and kindergartens, anthroposophical medicine, natural body care and Biodynamic® farming. |
